The companion and unlucky lover of Narcissus. Like many before him, Aminias (sometimes spelled Ameinias) wished to marry Narcissus, and as with all the others his affection was spurned. Narcissus turned him away time and again before finally growing tired of his affection. Spurning him a final time, he ordered a dagger to be delivered to Aminias' door. Heartbroken and understanding the message behind the weapon, Aminias turned the dagger on himself and ended up dying on Narcissus' doorstep. With his final breath, he cursed Narcissus and asked Nemesis, Goddess of revenge, to punish Narcissus for his cruelty. His wish was granted when Narcissus caught sight of himself in a pool of water and fell instantly in love, an event which ultimately led to his demise.
