In Greek mythology, the Chimera (Greek Χίμαιρα) was a monstrous fire-breathing

creature of Lycia in Asia Minor.It supposedly had the head of a lion,the body of a goat and the tail of a snake.Aside from breathing fire,the Chimera was also poisonous.It was defeated by the son of Poseidon,Bellerophen. The Chimera was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters as Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra. The term chimera has also come to mean more generally, an impossible or foolish fantasy.
