Nymph in enchanted forest by svoja i nicija-d2zax2d

Pleione

Pleione was an Okeanid from Mount Kyllene in Arkadia. She was the wife of the Titan Atlas, who bore him the Pleiades, the Hyades and Hyas.

Pleione may have been amongst the Epimelides who were the nymphs and protectors of sheep and other animals that live in flocks. The suspicion that she is one of the Epimelides is two fold. First her name means "to increase in number" which the Epimelides ensured did happen and second, her grandson Hermes was the god of animal husbandry (among many other things).
