Drunken silenus

In Greek mythology, Silenus (Greek: Σειληνός) was a companion and tutor to the wine god Dionysus. He is a rustic god of the dance of the wine-press. While Pan is the most famous of Rustic Gods if there was a close second, it would be Seilenos. Seilenos's fame is by association, after Dionysus was born Zeus in order to save Dionysus Hera's wrath Zeus put Dionysus in Seilenos's care. Seilenos (with help from The Nysiades) raised him from an infant acting as his foster father.

Seilenos is depicted as a fat drunk satyr with a who is balding and has snub-nose, and the ears and tail of an ass. He I also usually riding a donkey and sometimes playing pan pipes or a flute.
