Sykeus (Συκευς) was one of the Gigantes who waged war on the gods. While he did not play any specific role in the Giant War, he is known for his escape. Sykeus survived the first battle and fled. Zeus and Herakles pursued Sykeus as they had done with many other of the Gigantes. Unlike many of his brethren who were struck by lightning from Zeus then finished by one of Herakles' arrows Sykeus survived because before they could kill him his mother Gaia (the Earth) hid him in her bossom by transforming him into the first fig-tree.
